Gmail Setup Guide
Connect your Google account so Oskuo can read, search, send, and manage your Gmail messages.
Prerequisites
- check_circle A Google account with Gmail enabled
- check_circle An active Oskuo account on any plan
- info This integration is in beta while we complete Google app verification. To get access, email support@oskuo.com.
Connecting Gmail to Oskuo
- 1 Open Settings → Connectors in Oskuo and find the Gmail connector.
- 2 Select the tools you want to enable. Read-only tools (search, read) require fewer permissions, while send and compose tools require broader access. You can always add more tools later.
- 3 Click Connect Gmail to start the Google OAuth flow. You will be redirected to Google to sign in.
- 4 Review the permissions Google shows you — these match the tools you selected — and click Allow. Once authorised, Gmail will show as Connected in your connectors list.
Available tools
Gmail gives Oskuo access to 10 tools. Only the scopes needed for your selected tools are requested from Google.
- check_circle List emails — browse messages by label (inbox, sent, starred, etc.)
-
check_circle
Search emails — find messages using Gmail query syntax (
from:,subject:,has:attachment, date ranges) - check_circle Read email — view the full content of a single message
- check_circle Read thread — view all messages in a conversation thread
- check_circle Send email — compose and send a new message
- check_circle Reply to email — respond to an existing message or thread
- check_circle Create draft — save a message as a draft for you to review before sending
- check_circle Update draft — edit an existing draft message
- check_circle Modify labels — add or remove labels, archive, mark as read/unread
- check_circle Check unreplied threads — find threads where you haven't responded yet
Try it out
Here are some things you can ask Oskuo to do:
- chat_bubble "Show unread emails"
- chat_bubble "Search for emails from john@example.com about the contract"
- chat_bubble "Draft a reply to the latest client email"
- chat_bubble "Find all emails with invoices from the last 30 days and summarise the totals"
- chat_bubble "Send a quick email to tom@example.com letting him know the project is on track"
Good to know
- info Oskuo can only access the Gmail account you connected — it cannot read other people's mailboxes.
- info Enable Filter security emails in your Gmail connector settings to prevent OTP verification codes and security alerts from reaching the AI.
- info You can set a custom email signature and greeting per connected account — Oskuo will use these when composing messages.
- info Managing filters, forwarding rules, and account settings is not supported yet.
- info Google Chat messages are separate from Gmail — Oskuo cannot access them through this connector.
- info Very large attachments are not downloaded automatically. Oskuo will let you know if an attachment is too large to process.
Keeping things secure
- lock Only the OAuth scopes needed for your selected tools are requested — read-only tools never ask for send permissions.
- lock Oskuo connects to Gmail using Google's official sign-in flow. Your Google password is never shared with Oskuo.
- lock Your credentials are encrypted with AES-256 and stored securely — they are never visible to other team members.
- lock All email activity is logged in your team's audit trail, so you always have a record of what was accessed.
- lock Revoke access anytime in Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with access.
Troubleshooting
I see "Reconnect to enable [tools]" expand_more
You've enabled new tools that require additional Google permissions. Click Reconnect to re-authorise with the updated scopes — your existing connection will be replaced with a new one.
I see an "Access denied" error expand_more
If you're using a Google Workspace account, your organisation's admin may restrict third-party app access. Ask your Workspace admin to allow Oskuo, then try connecting again.
Oskuo cannot find a specific email expand_more
Try providing more specific search terms — Gmail search syntax such as from:name@example.com or subject:invoice is supported. Very old emails may take longer to retrieve.
How do I get beta access? expand_more
While Google app verification is in progress, email support@oskuo.com with your Google account email and we'll add you to the beta.
